PildoLabs takes part in a new Safety Workshop in Trento
On November 7th and 8th, a second Safety Workshop took place in Trento (Italy), at Nucleo Elicotteri and G. Caproni Airport, where in-flight validations of PinS procedures and low altitude helicopter routes were carried out a few weeks ago.
Within the FLAG framework, participants identified the need to develop Safety Guidance Material to support the introduction of GNSS IFR operations in controlled and uncontrolled airspace. Eurocontrol, under a framework agreement with the GSA (European GNSS Agency) and in close cooperation with PildoLabs, leads this task that has begun with the organisation of two transnational Safety Workshops in order to identify those main operational elements and assumptions that should be take into account when creating the material so that the result are as in line as possible with daily operations.
The event was attended by the representatives of the pioneering European operators in the implementation of GNSS IFR procedures for helicopters, as well as ENAC (Ente Nazionale per l’Aviazione Civile), ENAV (Ente Nazionale per l’Assistenza al Volo), EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) and the GSA, and was oriented towards the analysis of operations related to the approach and takeoff procedures for PinS helicopters. The main objective was to present and discuss those aspects that require greater attention when implementing these solutions so that they can be considered in the safety assessment and so that it is possible to develop a harmonised solution at European level that facilitates the implementation of GNSS IFR procedures for helicopters .
The results of the event were highly satisfactory and have served to consolidate the material that is being created and which is expected to be fundamental in paving the way towards the safe implementation of these solutions.
